Apparently, I have jinxed the real estate market.
I was convinced that of course our house would sell and our move would be as smooth as a knife through butter. However....knives are sharp and cut you when you don't expect it. And butter melt as you wait for something to happen.
Our house is STILL on the market. Our agent assures us that no houses have been selling, which doesn't help. We just want 1 house (OUR house!) to sell. Maybe with the next government interest rate change things will change and buyers will start buying.
Meanwhile, I'm out in sunny BC and Hubby is in sunny Ontario. Good thing we have a good phone plan :) He's holding down the eastern front with the help of the 2 dogs, while I've been finding my way around this western town. We are both coping. While I miss Hubby and puppies, pretty much everything is now unpacked and I'm getting to know this new town. Meanwhile, he's cutting the lawn, walking the dogs, and keeping everything tidy. 😍😍
Summer is a great time to get to know a new place. Wonderful Son-in-law's connections were giving away a bike, which he grabbed for me. Yeah BarMax Building! With it, I've been exploring ever since. It's my only mode of transportation since Hubby has the car. Hubby's expected to arrive here around Labour Day! I can't wait! 😁)
These days, the sun is out and I can walk or ride the bike all around, exploring this new city. Our new place is close to bike paths and walking trails. The nearest shopping area is a short bike ride downhill. (It kinda sucks coming back home uphill ), and I try not to buy too much stuff!) But the area has all the amenities - groceries, drug stores, Canadian Tire (!!) , Winners, Starbucks.... WOW!
Don't worry, I'm pacing myself!
Since the weather is nice, the city has events going on - night markets, movies in the park, festivals, and more.
And of course, out hiking and babysitting my grand-pup. I'm getting out to meet people too. I've been jamming with a group at the nearby Community Centre and meeting for talking to other woman at that Community Centre. I've been to outdoor festivals (and won a prize in a raffle - a new yoga mat!) and today I was at an origami craft session at the local library. Then there's a Golden Retriever Meetup once a month at a nearby river - that's so fun. All the dogs are happy and wet and smiling and splashing. The oldest one, who was 15, was in a floaty! I can't wait to take our little golden to see the rest of her very extensive clan.
I still miss all my Ontario friends, but am trying to keep in touch. When you're heading out this direction, stop by to see us. You'll have to contact me for directions, but I'd love to see you.
Keep enjoying the season and let me what you're up to!
